About Us

Art and Scroll represents the ultimate merging of the unique talent that resides in the artist; the personal inspiration for artistic expression; and the masterful technique, practiced and perfected over the years of interpreting Jewish life on canvas and parchment.

Born in Tiberius in 1954, Yossi Rubin was raised in Kfar Ganim – a small village near Petach Tikvah. At the age of 18, he joined the Israeli Army effort in the Yom Kippur war, and served with Arik (Ariel) Sharon’s unit in the Sinai Desert for the next three years. Eventually, Yossi settled in the Artist’s Colony in Tzfas and then the Old City of Jerusalem, where he honed his craft and would later establish the Yossi Rubin Parchment Art Collection.

Influenced by the splendor of Israel’s finest landscapes and personal quests that informed his innate creativity, Yossi has created one of the most desirable art collections in the world. His art on parchment lends an eloquence to numerous tfillos and psukim, bringing meticulous safrus to parchments gilded in pure 24k gold. Each distinctive piece is an investment to be treasured by the serious collector or the casual art lover. The spiritual dimension of each Parchment Art piece emerges from the vivid colors of the Land of Israel: the luminous tans and yellows, reminiscent of the Sinai; the earthy green vines of the Galil; the mesmerizing blue waters of the Kineret. Holy cities and burial sites of the righteous - among them Amuka, Meron and Tiberias - are also beautifully rendered.
